The Foundation of a Clean Harvest
Sweeping is the second step in getting your crop off the tree and to the huller. Done right, it means tight windrows, minimal dirt pickup, and a harvest crew that can move fast. Sweepers use five paddle-like "bats" (similar to a parallel-bar hay rake) to transfer nuts quickly and softly to the windrow.
Full Bloom Harvesting runs a high-capacity V-Sweeper and a medium-capacity single head sweeper, both calibrated for gravelly and heavier clay soils the Central Valley provides. We adjust ground speed, brush pressure, and windrow width to match your orchard layout and soil type ensuring a clean windrow.
How We Sweep
Pre-Sweep Assessment
We walk the orchard before the first pass — checking soil looseness, debris and gravel load, and row spacing. Every orchard is different, and we dial in before we start.
Calibrated Head Height
Too aggressive and you're picking up rocks and soil. Too light and nuts stay behind. Our operators set head height custom to each field, not to each season.
Triple blown berms
We sweep with a pattern in which each berm is blown three times, twice during the opening pass, and once during the closing pass. This results in a staggering 99.97% nut recovery rate.
Post-Sweep Inspection
After each block we check windrow integrity and nut loss. If a section needs an extra pass, we make it — no extra charge for doing the job right.
